My Hair Loss Story
Posted by Karmic Nectar on 12.09.2009 at 10:25 pmMy thyroid blood test panel came back November 19th. Victoria told me that nothing looked totally off except my Reverse T3. It was high. She told me to look up Wilson’s Syndrome (not Wilson’s Disease). Here is what I found on the Internet:
If you have a body temperature of less than 98.6 F. and some of the following symptoms you probably have Wilson’s Syndrome. This condition involves a disorder where the cells of the body are unable to convert the inactive thyroid hormone, T4, into the more active hormone, T3. Instead you are converting your T4 to Reverse T3.. the inactive form of T3 that takes up space but can not be used to meet your T3 metabolic needs. In most people with high RT3, T3 supplementation of their thyroid levels is helpful.
The list included about 60 symptoms. The ones that I have are: cold hands, dry eyes, food intolerances, muscular/joint aches, dry hair, hair loss, cold intolerance, unhealthy nails, tinnitus (ringing in the ears).
I also got my fasting plasma amino acid test back today! There are 4 pages of graphs that show levels of amino acids.. I can’t read them. But, the last page does show an overview of the abnormalities. It says my Lysine is high, my Isoleucine is low and my Urea is low. I am sure Dr. Ellis will explain what that all means…
I have my follow up phone consultation with Dr. Ellis at 12 noon tomorrow to discuss the results of these 2 tests that she wanted me to have done. I am so excited! I have been completely gluten free since she told me I was allergic. I have discovered so many great foods that are gluten free. I have shopped at Whole Foods for years, but now I see it in a whole different light. When searching for gluten-free foods they haveĀ little green “gluten free” signs on the shelf where it shows the product and price of the item. Last week I bought pasta, soup, cookies, bread mix and lots of other goodies – all gluten-free! And, I discovered a store called “Roots” thatĀ has fabulous organic, gluten-free foods….!
I took my Progesterone every night from day 15 to day 28 of my cycle. And, I have been reading Living Gluten Free For Dummies and The Gluten Connection .
I will write tomorrow and fill you in on what Dr. Ellis says.
